I returned from my Florida trip to find a box on my doorstep. Inside, sumptuously wrapped in hand painted green paper, was a tiny creative world bursting with wild possibilities!
My friend Robin, gate keeper of the Small Asylum and the Baggaraggs Empire, hosted a supply swap on her blog so that crafters could share their fabulous remnants and embellishments in hopes of the items receiving renewed glory at the hands of fellow artists.
Robin's work is stunning! It's creative alchemy at its finest!

Robin transforms the ordinary scrap into drool-worthy embellishments that are so deceiving in their simplicity. Layers sewn upon layers, mixing new and vintage, juxtaposing the ordinary and the elegant to create the ultimate feast for the artists' soul.
Each of these supply collages came packaged in cellophane baggies and were seemingly worlds unto themselves. I treated myself to unravelling one of these intricate universes and found myself oohing and aahing with audible delight! There were bindings in soft pallettes, hand painted stamped paper ribbons, fuzzy bumble bees, wire flowers, tiny tombstones, prim rusty stars, and trims galore!
Just look at the detail in this wee ream of ribbon and the hand stamped muslin!
The supplies I received from Robin introduced me to a new way of viewing the scrap bin. I know this week I will be diving into my fabric trash bin to stitch together those items I felt were too small to save. Perhaps I will make my own mini crazy quilt in tribute to Robin's Small Asylum.
Every artist in the swap is soooo talented! But I was honored to have Robin as a swap buddy. She was the first artist I really noticed on Etsy and she introduced me to the wonderful Etsy team Old Farmhouse Gathering. Be sure to check out her blog, The Small Asylum and stop by her Etsy shop Baggaraggs to see her inticate creations.
LOVE & SUPPLY SWAPS!!
What lovely artistry in each of those packages! Robin is quite the talent isn't she. Lovely to discover your little blog! You pull people in with the first sentence! Although I didn't comment on every post, I did enjoy reading. Can't wait to see those Merfolk finished!
