This time of year my heart starts racing knowing it is only another month or so before those fabulous Texas wildflowers begin popping up along the roadsides, blanketing the hills and causing even the toughest of men to pull their Harley Davidson alongside a tranquil field for a photo op. Oh yes- I have witnessed such leather clad gents on the farm road's soft shoulder with tears in their eyes and a "God bless Texas!" on their breath!
So on this nasty rainy winter day I dove into the archives for some fave wildflower pics to warm my spirits. I took most of these photos on the back roads of Johnson County, Texas between Alvarado and Maypearl.
Texans are treated to vibrant mixes of blue, salmon, pinks and yellows at every turn! Indian paintbrush, wisteria, poppies, and bull peas add to the puffy palette. Not only visually stunning, but these wildflowers also create such a sweet scent on the gentle spring winds!
Soon the twiggy brown landscape will be reborn into color, butterflies, photo hounds, family romps, and bikers soaking in mother nature's bouquet. I will be among them with my trusty Nikon, face down in the flower patch, braving red ant bites- just to get that perfect shot and making my own proclamation, "God bless Texas!".
LOVE & SPRING FORWARD!
Beautiful pictures, Jacquie! <3
